WEBSTER, Texas -- Webster police fatally shot a man suspect of robbing a League City night club, police told KPRC Local 2.

League City police said three armed men robbed the Easy Street bar on Highway 3 near West Main Street at about 9 p.m. Sunday.

League City police chased the men, who drove into Webster. Webster police officers then joined the pursuit.

Investigators said the men eventually pulled over in the 900 block of West NASA Parkway and two immediately jumped out and ran on foot.

A Webster police officer chased one of the suspects into a parking lot. The officer said he told the man to drop his gun.

The man pointed the gun at the officer, detectives said. The officer fired his gun, wounding the man in the head.

The man was taken by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he died. His name was not released.

Investigators said the second man who tried to flee was tracked down and arrested. The driver surrendered at the scene. They will face charges in Galveston County.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office and Webster Police Department are investigating the officer-involved shooting. The officer involved will be on administrative duty during the investigation.
