WEBSTER, Texas — A robbery suspect who was shot and killed by a Webster police officer was identified by fingerprints, an official said Tuesday.
Oscar Dario Sanchez-Reyes, 26, of Houston, died of a gunshot wound to the head, Jennifer Coston, a spokeswoman for the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office, said.
Like two other robbery suspects captured during a chase that ended the shooting, Sanchez-Reyes was not carrying identification. It is unclear what fingerprints examiners used to identify Sanchez-Reyes.
Police accused Sanchez-Reyes of pointing a handgun at Webster officer Colin Murphy, who, along with a host of law enforcement agencies, tracked three men in a car after the 9:30 p.m. Sunday robbery of about 15 people inside Easy Street bar in League City.
After stopping the Nissan Altima suspected of being the getaway car, Murphy fired four times, striking Sanchez-Reyes once in the head in the 900 block of West NASA Parkway, authorities said.
Luis Armando Hernandez and Manuel Vasquez, both 23 and of Houston, were charged with aggravated robbery with a firearm and jailed on $80,000 bonds.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents also have taken steps to detain the men because League City police were uncertain whether they were legal residents.
Their whereabouts Tuesday were unknown, but the men haven’t been booked into the Galveston County Jail, sheriff’s office spokesman Capt. Barry Cook said.
