HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Charges are pending against a suspected car thief, who was shot by a Houston police officer.
It happened a little after 2am on Lawn at Marjorie in north Houston. Investigators say the officer was on routine patrol and saw a driver run several stop signs. The car came back stolen.
The driver pulled into a driveway. Two men got out. The passenger obeyed the officer's commands but the driver did not and instead yelled at the officer. Police say he reached behind his back, into his waistband, and that's when the officer pulled his gun and shot the suspect twice in the leg. The officer was not hurt.
Police say the suspect, Michael Rollerson, 25, struck a woman with the car while stealing it from her Thursday.
