PASADENA, Texas - An officer is forced to shoot his weapon toward a suspect who drove an allegedly stolen vehicle toward the officer, according to Pasadena police.

The officer found the car that was reported as stolen from the 900 block of Houston Avenue and tried to stop the driver.

Police say that when the suspect in the stolen car reached the 100 block of Denham Avenue near South Shaver Street, the vehicle struck a construction sign on one side of the road, hit a utility pole on the other side and spun before crashing into a house.

When the officer walked out of his vehicle to make an arrest, the suspect drove the car in the officer's direction, according to police. The officer shot toward the suspect several times.

The suspect was taken by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in unknown condition, but is expected to survive.

The officer was not hurt and the Pasadena Police Department will decide whether or not he will be disciplined for the shooting.
