HPD officer strikes and kills pedestrian

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston police officer who was driving through an intersection in his cruiser struck and killed a pedestrian Wednesday night. It happened at Old Galveston Road and Brookglen. Police say that officer was leaving another scene and didn't see the victim, who was picking up cans in the middle of the street.

A police spokesperson tells us this appears to simply be a tragic accident. Officers are investigating.
