Armed suspect allegedly punches officer

HOUSTON – A man is behind bars after a struggle with police ended in gunfire.

Police said an officer spotted the suspect robbing a man at gunpoint in a parking lot on Leawood in southwest Houston on Friday night.

They said the officer asked the suspect to drop his weapon, but he refused and pointed the gun at police.

The officer opened fire and hit the man in the leg, but that didn't stop him from running.

Police finally caught the man hiding.

After the suspect allegedly punched another officer in the face he was arrested.

He's now facing a list of charges.
