Woman shot in hand is charged with evading

An 18-year-old woman who was shot in the hand by a Houston police officer earlier this week has been charged with felony evading.

Brittnee S. King was wounded in the hand after police say she refused to stop when they tried to pull her car over in northeast Houston.

Floydrick L. Washington, 19, a passenger in King's car, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for aggravated robbery. He also has been charged with evading detention.

According to police, officers tried to stop King's red Oldsmobile about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after they saw Washington open the front passenger door and throw trash out of the car.

Police said King, who was driving, refused to stop and drove the vehicle onto an apartment complex property at 7373 N. Wayside.

Before King's car rolled to a stop, Washington jumped out and ran. An officer chased him and took him into custody.
