HOUSTON—There were three officer-involved shootings in the Houston area in a six-hour period late Sunday and early Monday.
The first incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. in the 6700 block of Village Bridge while Harris County deputies were serving a warrant for assault of a public servant.
Deputies said a woman let them into the home and told them the suspect was upstairs.
As they made their way up the stairs, they said the suspect ran toward them, screaming, with a gun in his hand.
Fearing for their safety, the deputies opened fire.
The suspect was airlifted to Memorial Hermann in serious but stable condition. It was not clear how many times he was shot.
Around 10:45 p.m., Harris County deputies were at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Dunston when they reported hearing gunshots.
As they made their way toward where the shots came from, the deputies said they ran into two armed suspects.
The deputies told the suspects to stop, and one of them shot at the suspects six times. One of the suspects was hit in the leg and taken to Ben Taub in stable condition.
Deputies said the second suspect took off on foot and got away.
A few hours later, around 2:30 a.m., two HPD officers were working a security job at the Amazonia night club near the North Freeway and Aldine Bender when they saw two men get into a fight.
The officers were trying to clear the club parking lot at the time.
They said one of the men ran to his car, got a gun and shoved it through the open window of the other man’s pickup truck, threatening to shoot.
The officers ran over, pulled out their guns and told the suspect to drop his weapon.
The officers said he refused their commands and continued to threaten the other man, so the officers were forced to open fire.
The suspect was hit several times and taken to Ben Taub in serious but stable condition.
