Police: Suspect tries to run over officer, deputy forced to shoot

HOUSTON -- A Harris County deputy shot a suspect who tried to run him over while attempting to flee.

It happened along FM 2100 near Highway 90 in northeast Harris County.

Precinct Three deputies said they were alerted to a possible drunk driver travelling in a blue Mustang Shelby GT.? After spotting the vehicle, deputies said they attempted to approach the suspect, who sped off.

Deputies said the driver tried to run over one of the officers, who then fired his weapon.? The driver was struck in the upper left shoulder.

The driver was transported to LBJ in stable condition.
