Officer kills man shooting at passing cars

Sunday, November 02, 2008 | 7:48 PM HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man was shot and killed by police after investigators say he shot a security guard and then started firing at cars. It all happened off Bellfort near Telephone Road, south of downtown early Sunday morning. Police say the man shot a security guard outside Susana's Place Night Club after he wasn't allowed in. A short time later, police say the man started firing at traffic. When police arrived, officers told the man to drop the gun. Police say the man pointed the pistol at Officer MJ Glover, so Glover opened fire. Investigators say the passing drivers were lucky. "None of them were shot," said HPD Lt. Humberto Lopez. "The vehicles were damaged, but luckily none of the people driving were shot." Story continues belowAdvertisement At least four cars were hit by the gunman's bullets. One driver suffered minor injuries. The suspect died at a hospital. As for the security guard, he's expected to survive.
