HOUSTON – After a short chase, deputies fatally shot a man suspected in a shooting that left two people dead, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.
Two people died after four people were shot at about 4:15 p.m. inside a house in the 14100 block of Landfair in north Harris County, deputies said.
Deputies said the 18-year-old suspect in the shooting left in a white Toyota 4Runner, which was one of the victim’s vehicles.
The chase began after the vehicle was spotted on Aldine Mail Route and ended after the driver crashed into a light pole in the 3000 block of Bertrand, deputies said. He exited the vehicle with a gun in his hand, but it is unclear if the suspect actually fired, deputies said.
"(He) pointed the weapon at our deputies. Our deputy fearing for his life fired his weapon, a second deputy that had already pulled behind him as assistance also discharged his weapon,” said Christina Garza, a Harris County Sherriff’s Office spokeswoman. “The suspect was hit. He was transported to Hermann Hospital, where he was pronounced dead”
