HOUSTON -- The search for a missing Harris County man may be closer to closure after U.S. deputy marshals helped local police nab two suspects.

On Monday, a hotel manager inspecting a room in the 14100 block of Tomball Parkway found a large amount of blood, and saw that the renter, Stacey Trent Lockett, was missing.

Deputies contacted 41-year-old Lockett's family, who told them they hadn't heard from him and his 2007 white Dodge Charger was missing.

U.S. deputy marshals joined the search, and around 11:45 p.m. Monday, they spotted Lockett's car in the 11500 block of MLK. When they tried to stop the car, the driver swerved around and tried to run them down, police said.

One of the deputy marshals fired and hit the driver, who went a little farther down the road before coming to a stop at Beldart and MLK. He and the passenger abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Both suspects were taken into custody at the scene. The driver was taken to Ben Taub Hospital for surgery, and the passenger is being questioned by the Harris County Sheriff's Office Homicide Division.

Lockett has not been located.
