Deputy fatally shoots suspect

A sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man on Wednesday who pointed a gun at the deputy, officials said.

A domestic disturbance outside a Taco Bell near FM 1960 and Cypress Station in far north Harris County at about 1:20 a.m. turned into a police pursuit that ended at the man's home in the 200 block of Eldon near Imperial Valley in north Houston, officials said.

At the restaurant, his wife apparently called police because he was threatening her and their 2-year-old child.

The man left the restaurant and briefly spoke to a deputy on the woman's cell phone, repeating threats to hurt his family as well as to himself, then hung up.

Once the man arrived at the family home, he was seen holding a gun to his head inside the pickup. Then he aimed the weapon at a deputy, who fired once through the window, sheriff's department spokeswoman Christina Garza said.
