Men charged in deputy assault

Two men have been charged in connection with a reported assault on an undercover Harris County Sheriff's deputy, who shot and wounded one of the men in the face.

Jordan Thomas Ayers, 25, is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant.

The deputy, whose name is not released because he works undercover, shot Ayers, who was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital.

Ayers is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court today.

Jerry Edward Ramirez, 28, is charged with burglary of a motor vehicle and evading detention, both misdemeanors. He is in the city of Houston jail on a total of $10,000.
