Police chase ends in fatal shooting

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is dead and a second is in jail after a police chase through southwest Houston.

Investigators say police spotted a suspicious vehicle at a car wash on Sands Point and Allday last night. Police tried to pull over the driver, but he took off. The driver eventually lost control and hit a curb and the cop car blocked him in. A passenger got out of the car and ran off.

Authorities say the driver got out with a gun in his hand and pointed it at police. Investigators say Officer JM Crawford feared for his life and opened fire, killing the driver.

The passenger was caught and arrested.
