Officer Shot In Face In Southeast Houston

Police: Suspect Killed During Shootout

UPDATED: 11:03 pm CST March 5, 2009 HOUSTON -- A Houston police officer was shot in the face in southeast Houston Thursday night, KPRC Local 2 reported.

The incident happened in the 9300 block of East Avenue O.

According to police sources, the officer was a narcotics officer and was serving a search warrant when the shooting occurred.

Gunfire was returned and the suspect died at the scene.

The officer was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. His condition was not known.
