Stolen Vehicle
On March 31, 2006, at approximately16:00hrs, a call came into the Tomball Communications Center regarding a vehicle that had just been stolen at the Tomball Little League Baseball Park located at S. Cherry St. @ Huffsmith. The caller advised that her son had just notified her that his vehicle, described as a 1998 GMC P/U, green in color, had just been taken from the parking lot at that location. The communications specialist immediately relayed the information to the officers in the field. A Tomball Police Officer observed the described stolen vehicle at the intersection of Tomball Pkwy. @ Holderrieth. The officer attempted to stop the suspect vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to stop, disregarding the officer’s emergency overhead equipment. The suspect vehicle came to a rest in the 19000 Blk of Berry Hill. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer engaged the two occupants of the vehicle. During the course of taking the suspects into custody, a shot was fired by the officer, and one of the suspects involved received a gunshot wound. The suspect was transported to Herman Hospital via life flight at the request of Northwest EMS.
At this time, the incident is being investigated by members of the Harris County Sheriff Department, The Harris County District Attorneys Office, and Tomball Police Department. Upon conclusion of the investigation, further information will be released.
In accordance with Police Department protocol, the police officer involved in the incident has been placed on administrative leave until further notice.
