Unidentified female, killed when her SUV is struck from behind by a speeding patrol car reportedly responding to a call. Police claim his lights and siren were on and that the SUV had run a red light.

Demarcus Celestine, 16, killed when the car he was riding in crashed during a chase by unidentified Harris County deputy constable. Constables claimed the car, driven by another 16-yr. old, was stolen.

Oliver Hampton, 46, killed during police chase when he was ejected from his car after hitting a curb. Undercover officers claim they saw Hampton stealing from a car in a sting operation, and began chasing him.

Ricardo Moreira, h/m, 43, and Israel Moreira, h/m, 36 (brothers), are killed when a pickup being chased by three patrol cars driven by Harris County sheriff’s deputies slams into their car. The persons being chased had stolen a few cartons of cigarettes from a convenience store valued at $150 (a misdemeanor). The driver of the pickup was charged with murder, and his passenger was charged with evading arrest and theft; another female passenger wasn’t charged.

Marcia Larkin, 16, killed when her car crashed after being chased by Harris County Precinct 4 constable deputies and Tomball police at speeds in excess of 100 mph.  Marcia had run away from home.

Miguel Zalaya, h/m, 28, killed, and Jorge Martinez, h/m, 20, and Daniel Balderas, h/m, 27, seriously injured when their car crashes during chase by Deputy Constable Chris Alonzo. Police say Alonzo had stopped them for speeding, and they "sped off" as he walked toward the car. Zalaya was a passenger in the back seat.

Janette Rodriguez (11 months old) is killed and three other family members critically injured when DPS trooper Floyd Goodwin, without siren or emergency lights, hits family's car from behind as he races to another accident. Witnesses say Goodwin's speed was more than 100 mph when he hit the Rodriguez car. Goodwin was no-billed.

Rolando Aleman, 27, killed when his pickup crashed into a utility pole while fleeing from HPD officers, who claim he was involved in a superficial stabbing at a club.

Marco Antonio Segura, 26, h/m; his wife, Gloria Diaz Segura, 23, h/f pregnant; and son, Marco Segura Jr., 3, h/m, killed when a van being chased by Houston police officers in an unmarked car crashes into their car. Two bystanders were trapped under the Segura car when it overturned. This is the fourth high-speed chase by Houston police officers this year, bringing to seven the number of people killed in those chases. Although HPD policy prohibits high-speed chases by unmarked cars, Chief Sam Nuchia defends this one, saying the police were merely “following” the van and “the pursuit was necessary and the deaths of the individuals…were an unfortunate and tragic consequence.”

Juan Serna, 15, h/m, critically injured when he was thrown from the car; Lilliana Tamayo, 16, h/f, minor injuries; and Adrian DeLeon, 14, h/m, minor injuries. Serna, Tamayo and DeLeon were all passengers in the car driven by Juan Melendez, 15, h/m, and Ruby Garcia, 16, h/f, killed when they crashed their car into a utility pole during a chase by a Houston police officer. Police suspected their car was stolen, and they fled after being stopped.

Steven Floyd Lockridge, 32, killed while being chased by Houston police officers; his van was struck by a car driven by off-duty Ft. Bend sheriff’s deputy Kenneth Jerome Swan. Lockridge had tried to cash a forged stolen check, and the bank teller called police.
