Pedro Oregon 22, asleep in his brother's apartment, shot twelve (12) times (9 times in the back) and killed after six Houston police officers, without search warrant, burst into the apartment on advice of informant. Despite officials' original claim, Oregon was unarmed and attempting to flee the assault when he was shot and killed. The officers, Lamont E. Tillery, 30; David R. Barrera, 28; David R. Perkins, 30; Pete A. Herrada, 28; James R. Willis, 28; and Sgt. Darrell H. Strouse, 34 were fired; all were ultimately cleared of wrongdoing.
