Off-Duty Deputy Shoots Bank Robber

HOUSTON -- A masked, armed man was shot when he tried to rob a northwest Houston bank on Friday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Houston police said an off-duty Harris County sheriff's deputy working security at the Vista Bank on the Northwest Freeway near Windfern Road when the man walked into the bank at about 1 p.m.
The deputy told the man to drop his gun, but he didn't, police said. Investigators said the man pointed his gun at the deputy.
Detectives said the deputy fired several shots at the robber.
The robber walked out of the bank and was arrested by Houston police.
He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital. His condition was not released.
