Deputy shoots bank robbery suspect in northwest Houston

HOUSTON – A Harris County Sheriff’s deputy shot a suspected bank robber Friday in northwest Houston.
Police say the suspect had just held up the Vista Bank in the 14000 block of Hwy. 290 near Winfern.
The sheriff was working an extra job as a security officer at the bank.
The suspect was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.

There have already been 10 bank robberies in Houston in the first two weeks of 2010. There were 155 in 2009 and 131 in 2008.
