Deputy constable accused of tampering with evidence due in court

(11/13/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) -- A Precinct 4 captain accused of tampering with evidence is expected in court today. Tim Cannon was indicted last month in connection with an investigation into claims of a cover-up. It happened after officers responded to a domestic dispute at a northwest Harris County home in August. Officers were in the process of arresting a woman for attacking a deputy constable when she was allowed to go free. The woman turned out to be a friend of Constable Ron Hickman.

An internal investigation is underway. Hickman does not face any charges.
