HPD officer charged with evading arrest
Staff
A Houston police officer has been
relieved of duty with pay after he was accused of leading Harris County
sheriff's deputies on a
chase.
Bobby Thompson, 46, an 18-year HPD
veteran assigned to the Westside patrol division, is charged with
felony evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
Thompson, of the 3400 block of Walnut
Bend, was off duty and with his wife Saturday when a deputy clocked
him exceeding 90 mph in a 45-mph zone, said sheriff's Maj. Mike Smith.
Thompson was arrested after he went
off the 19000 block of Westheimer Parkway and did not explain why
he had refused to stop, Smith said. Neither Thompson nor his wife
was injured.
