Chase ends with bystander in hospital

(8/14/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) - A teenager led Houston police on a brief chase that put an innocent bystander in the hospital.

The pursuit started after the 16-year-old ran a red light on South Main and Chimney Rock and refused to pull over for officers.

He ran another red light and broadsided a Mercedes.

Both vehicles went airborne. Emergency crews had to use the "Jaws of Life" to free the woman from her car.

She was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

The car the teen was driving may have been stolen.
