Drugs were found in a suspect's car after he ran from police

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A routine traffic stop led to an officer involved shooting in northwest Houston.

Around 3:00 a.m., a Houston police officer pulled a car over for a traffic violation on W. Tidwell near TC Jester. As the car pulled over, one of the passengers took off running. Officers chased him.

During the pursuit, an officer shot the suspect in self-defense. The suspect who was shot was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

A second suspect was arrested. Houston police says they found drugs in the car the men were in.
