HOUSTON - A suspect was shot by a Houston Police officer who was trying to serve a narcotics warrant in northwest Houston.
Officers with the Houston Police Department's narcotics division were executing a "no-knock" search and arrest warrant at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Sherman Lane when a suspect inside the apartment confronted an officer, police said.
The officers had repeated identified themselves as police and commanded three people inside the apartment to get down on the floor, which they did, police said.
But a man in a narrow hallway confronted the lead officer and tried to reach for the officer's weapon, police said. Fearing for his life, the officer shot the suspect once in the abdomen.
The suspect was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition, police said. No other people were hurt in the incident.
